What is the best solution to a large uterine fibroids?
I have fibroids the size of a baseball and take all the space in utero. My OB / GYN suggested a hysterectomy, depending on the size of the fibroid. He also proposed an abdominal surgery as I have had two cesarean sections previous one with a bit of scar tissue due to complications during the healing process. Someone Has there been a similar situation? I am concerned about the idea of surgery abdominal and am not sure of the removal of the ovaries, too. Everybody thought it would be appreciated. Yes, I am finished having children, I have two that are almost adults now.
This is a health problem is best to consult with your doctor, and a second opinion. I can only share my experiences. I had a hysterectomy (Abdominal) due to fibroids two years ago. For me it was a great decision for the best: I was 48 at the time, had three children (all vaginal deliveries), who bled to the point of anemia and fainting, have periods of 10 days or more, significant blood loss. I keep the ovaries because there was nothing wrong with them, and can provide a slight protection against cardiovascular disease (risk factors I for that, but not cancer) I have never had any symptoms of menopause – still no, and I have 50 years today. My mother had a very similar experience, but do hystrectomy 56. My quality of life has improved significantly. I almost forgot everything! This is an excellent resource for learning all want to know about hysterectomy. http://www.hystersisters.com/
